Building Your Own Guitar, A Reality?

I was totally agnostic to the idea that I can build or assemble my own guitar from scratch until I ran into this DIY guitar kits from amazon.

And so, I began to explore this niche and decided to show you guys what is it all about, how to build your own guitar, and if you are a handyman yourself and take pleasure in creating your own stuff, then you will definitely find this thing entertaining.

Nevertheless, I think this is one of the coolest things I’ve seen related to guitars, and whether you like the idea or not, I think it is at least worth mentioning.

So without further ado, let's check this thing in ACTION!

Watch the entertaining video below, showing the process of building the guitar up to finishing it and playing on it, and hearing its voice (sounds beautiful!):

NOTE: The unboxing and the package might vary depending on where you buy the kit from, and the type of the guitar. The guitar in the video above is NOT from amazon, but it’s an entertaining and a brief video overview on the topic nevertheless. Heads up for the dad on the professional assembly!

Another video showing a DIY guitar kit bought from Amazon, it’s video number 1 out of 6 videos, the first video is an “overview”, and the rest showcase the whole assembly process.

I recommend watching the first video just to have a general idea of the kit, and then watch the other parts if you are interested in seeing the wiring and the technical stuff of the assembly. Here’s part 1:

Aside from being a totally awesome and cool idea, here are some of the advantages that I see in DIY guitar kits:

Cheap

Very cheap price, ranging from 70$ to 250$, a new guitar of the same quality would cost at least twice of that. Ideal for beginners who are looking for a cool, good, inexpensive electric guitar to start with.

Highly Customizable

After choosing your desired kit, you have total customization over the guitar. You choose any dye that you want, the pickups, the strings, the electronics and so on.

Entertaining

The satisfaction you get from building your own guitar, and then wrapping it up and playing on it, and hearing your own creation, for many this is an unforgettable experience!

Collectable

The look on this thing, and the fact that you can customize it any way you like and still make it rock, along with the cheap price, makes it an excellent piece of art to add to your guitar collection.

Here is a sample of DIY Guitar Kits from amazon, and there are hundreds more of them! Check them out, have fun:

Final Thoughts

It’s definitely a cool thing seeing a DIY guitar kit being built from scratch, and for many handymen guitarists like myself who are good in tinkering around with stuff and fixing things, the DIY guitar kit sounds like a very a cool idea, in addition to potentially being useful in many other situations.

The price is ridiculously low comparing to other brand new “similar” guitars, ideal for beginners or people who wish to add another cool guitar to their guitar collection, and if this makes you excited, you should definitely give it a try.
